Privacy Policy
The Company
Grampian Fasteners does not share details about it's customers with other
companies or third parties. Any contact information or purchases made will be
held by us in the strictest confidence.
The exception to this is when we redirect web customers to
Protx to pay for goods online. For further information read the section
entitled "Payment Process".
The Website
This website uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption on certain pages to
prevent hackers from viewing information passing between our servers and your
browser e.g. contact information and order history. While on a secure page,
such as our login section, the padlock icon appears beside the URL (though it
may appear in the status bar) which should now start "HTTPS" as opposed to
"HTTP".
Payment Process
Online payments are performed through
Protx who are one of the most highly rated and accredited secure online
payment services. By using an external payment site, we never hold or have
access to any of your card information.
As part of our checkout process we send all the details of your order to Protx
in an encrypted form - this is in addition to the SSL encryption of the link.
Protx do not store any order or delivery information as stated
here; this information is used to fill in key fields of the payment
process (which you would have had to provide anyway) and to give customers
confidence that they are still paying for the correct goods even while on the
external site. While on the Protx site, SSL is used to ensure the security of
any information you exchange with them.
Cookies
To purchase items from this site requires a browser that accepts cookies. They
are used to track cart contents, navigation and login status as a user switches
between our HTTP and HTTPS domains. The cookies that we use do not store any
sensitive information about you - and on top of this, we encrypt the contents
so they are not easily read or modified.
Cookies do not act maliciously on computer systems. They are merely text files
that can be deleted at any time - they are not plug-ins nor are they programs.
Cookies cannot be used to spread viruses and they cannot access your hard
drive. This does not mean that cookies are not relevant to a user's privacy and
anonymity on the Internet. Cookies cannot read your hard drive to find out
information about you; however, any personal information that you give to a Web
site, could be stored in a cookie unless you have turned off the cookie feature
in your browser. In only this way are cookies a threat to privacy.
